Pursue Your Pivot: You Are Not Behind!

First of all …

Folks made it seem like January was the longest month ever, but it feels like it flew by! Just yesterday, I was counting down to the new year. We’re 1/12 of the way through the year … 335 days left … so let’s make the most of it.

… and just like that, HAPPY BLICKITY, BLACK HISTORY MONTH …

Now that I got that off my chest …

They say comparison is the thief of joy, and this statement resonates more than ever in a time when we are bombarded with carefully curated social media highlight reels. Opening an app on a shaky day can make women with the greatest sense of self-confidence question their progress. But even on your worst day, please know you are NOT behind!

Feeling behind is one reason that women don't pivot. The fear of being too old or "it" being too late keeps us stuck in places, physical or metaphorical, that no longer serve us. Don't let that be your story if there is something in your heart waiting for you to move on. So, what's waiting for you? Who's waiting for you?

These women are great examples that now is always the right time to be who you are destined to be. As a recovering CPA, I especially want to shout out Carla Hall because she's an accountant turned model turned cooking TV superstar. WHET?! Plus, my mom loved her! *adds Carla to my list of people to meet*

If you think about it, the mere thought of falling behind implies that there's a universal race or timeline that we should adhere to. However, I've learned that life doesn't work that way because life be lifing! Everyone's journey is a unique maze crafted by our decisions. Decisions, by the way, that we make at any given moment with the resources and information we have.

Thankfully, our means can multiply, and our knowledge can increase, and as a result, we can charter a different path at any given moment … pivot at any given moment.
