Pursue Your Pivot: Monday Motivation
Have you ever wished you could thank your past self for making a decision that made your life better today? I've wished that, and I've done that. If you have, there's no better time than the present to be that thoughtful person for your future self.
The beauty of transformation is not in giant leaps but in mindful, small steps forward. Your future self isn't expecting perfection (if it is, that may be a session for your therapist). Your future self is simply hoping you'll begin. Think of each small action as planting a seed that will grow into something meaningful over time.
My sister has gotten into gardening, and while that's not my thing, I love literally seeing the "fruits" of her labor when she grows something she can eat. From cucumbers to pineapples and tomatoes, these tasty foods came to be because she took small steps to plant the seeds and care for them until they matured.
So, what seeds can you plant today that will bear fruit for your future self? Here are a few ideas:
Clear one cluttered corner that's been clouding your mental space. We must get rid of mental and physical clutter that paralyzes us.
Start a 10-minute daily reading, writing, or stretching ritual.
Learn something new that sparks your curiosity. I can't advocate for podcasts, YouTube, or audible books enough.
Send that message you've been meaning to text someone who's been on your mind. I'm on this today!
Write down a goal that's been on your mind, with one concrete step to start.
Fill a water bottle so it's accessible and ready to help you meet your hydration goals. Trust me, it makes all the difference, and after the 2024 that some of us have had, we are drinking water and minding our business.
Prepare tomorrow's outfit and meals for a smoother morning. I did my meal prep yesterday for the week, and you can't tell me I'm not an adult!
Reflect on moments from this weekend that made you smile. What are you grateful for? How do you incorporate more of that into your life?
Review your monthly budget (even if it's just for 5 minutes) so you know where you are and where you're going financially. I hired a bookkeeper because I wasn't consistently doing this.
Say "no" or "not right now" to something that doesn't serve your goals or values.
Spend 2 minutes in complete silence, just breathing … just existing ... because life is a long to-do list that never ends.
Remember that today's small choice is tomorrow's testimony. A year from now, you will look back and appreciate how making decisions for your future self changed everything.
So, what seed are you planting today? Reply to this newsletter and share your "one thing." I'd love to celebrate your intention and maybe add that small step to my routine.
